Day 42 – Wyoming down the mines

We had travelled across the state of Wyoming to Rock Springs and Green River to see a working Mineral mine. I mean a massive working mineral mine. I have been in some mines before and they have been incredible. Sometimes incredibly dodgey. This was something so much more. As we descended down the 850ft hole I had an idea of what to expect but what I didn’t expect was a dodge pick-up truck waiting in the tunnel. The mine was enormous and we had to drive about 7 miles to where they were digging. It was a fairly bizarre feeling and as we travelled further in I could smell the fumes coming off the Teyona that they were drilling for.

These machines were enormous and the infrastructure they had in place was impressive to say the least. I couldn’t help but imagine what it must be like to drive the bike through the 24,000 acre tunnels though.

Sadly it wasn’t an option. Instead I settled for driving to Salt Lake City.
