Day 12 – Fishing in Jaws country
For some reason we had travelled to the USA in a major heat-wave. Even in some parts of Alaska it had been reaching scorching temperatures and Marthas Vineyard was no different. The sweltering heat and humidity hit me as soon as I came out of my room even at 7am. We travelled to Menensha, one of the many places that ‘Jaws’ was filmed and where Buddy Vanderhoop set sail from. He is known as being a bit of a celebrity on the island. Fished for all of his life and his family before him, he had a very impressive clientèle; from presidents such as the Kennedy’s, Clinton’s and the Obama’s. He has also taken out many film and TV celebrities. Known for being the best at what he does, we set out to find ourselves some dinner and possibly even see our very own ‘Jaws’. You’ll have to watch the show to see how I did!
