Day 16 – 19 – Boston and Kitty Hawk

The morning of the 29th we woke up in Boston. We had travelled on the seasonal train the CapeFlyer. This journey was turning more in to By Any Means! In Boston we met up with our EagleRider team who had two brand spanking new BMW RGS1200 2013 model for us. They were spectacular. The next two days ride however was not. We were aiming for Kitty Hawk in North Carolina and the weather was following us. Flash floods caused us to stop more than once as the rain became unrelenting.

We were planning to travel to Kitty Hawk for me to try out the Wrights Brothers first ever flight so the prospect of rain worried me. I had gained more energy from riding though and I think a more positive attitude. As soon as we arrived to do the Glider it was the perfect conditions.

I met Bruce from the Kitty Hawk Glider Club and he took me and the Glider up to the big sand Dune. I have to admit I was mildly nervous to be flying something intrinsically made out of toothpicks and cloth (I know there was more to it than that but not much). When the time came though it was exhilarating. What a feeling. Not to mention that Russ tried to beat my attempt and failed miserably. That almost felt even better! It was an incredible first experience in North Carolina and there is only more to come.
