THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS HAS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

Six Unique Islands Offer Unique Hawaiian Experiences

HAWAI‘I – The Hawaiian Islands is one of the most beautiful destinations in the world, with crystal clear blue waters, warm sandy beaches, shady palm trees and lush mountainous landscapes. Hawai‘i’s iconic natural beauty and its aloha spirit that stems from the state’s traditional Hawaiian culture, makes the Hawaiian Islands so unique.  There is so much to see and experience within this tropical paradise.

Located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, each of the Hawaiian Islands offers six unique island destinations and different experiences, from outdoor adventures, shopping and nightlife to romantic escapes. Relax and rejuvenate in the idyllic scenery of Kaua‘i, energize in the excitement on O‘ahu, be captivated by the surprises on the islands of Maui, Moloka‘i and Lana‘i, or inspired by the natural wonders of Hawai‘i Island. There are endless opportunities to tailor your Hawaiian vacation to satisfy every whim and desire.

Oahu is home to Honolulu, the vibrant epicenter of Hawaii, and the legendary North Shore, the world’s most epic surf destination. Here you will find everything from historic landmarks and iconic locations such as Pearl Harbor, Iolani Palace, Aloha Tower and of course world-famous Waikiki Beach. Oahu is also the place to go for energizing shopping, dining, arts and culture, and festivals and events.

Repeatedly at the top of the “best island” surveys of major travel magazines, the island of Maui offers experiences that range from the charming towns and farms of Upcountry Maui along the slopes of Haleakala to the world’s most luxurious resorts frequented by celebrities in beautiful Wailea.  During the winter months, the channel off the coast of Lahaina is one of the best places in the world to spot humpback whales.

Serene seascapes. Unspoiled coastlines. Untamed wilderness. Visit Molokai and travel back to a timeless place. This is an island that stays true to its Hawaiian traditions, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. Here, no building is taller than a coconut tree. This is a place where there’s no traffic and no traffic lights. A place where you can feel the mana (power) of Hawaiian culture.

Away from the crowds and hustle of everyday life, Lanai is a destination of untouched tranquility. This romantic island is a true getaway. Relax and rejuvenate in the peaceful seclusion that has earned Lanai the name of “Hawaii’s Most Enticing Island.”

Hawaii Island is the youngest and largest of the Hawaiian Islands and it is still growing as long as lava continues to pour out of Kilauea, one of the world’s most active volcanoes.  Described as “inspiring,” Hawaii Island is rich in history as it is the birthplace of King Kamehameha I.  Visitors can experience the island’s natural wonders and cultural history at sites such as Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Akaka Falls and historic Kona.

The rejuvenating island of Kauai is famed for its diverse and scenic wonders such as Waimea Canyon, known as the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” and the magnificent Napali Coast.  The island’s pristine mountains, valley, rivers, waterfalls and beaches offer nature-seekers the world’s best hiking, kayaking, ATV rides, surfing and more.  Because of the island’s spectacular beauty, Kauai has starred as the location in many popular movies including “South Pacific,” “Jurassic Park,” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.”

Established in 1998, the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority, the state’s tourism agency, is responsible for strategically managing tourism to optimize benefits for Hawai‘i that integrates the interest of visitors, the community and visitor industry. Tourism is our state’s leading economic driver and largest employer and the HTA continually works to ensure its sustainability well into the future.
