Trek through Crete’s mythical mountains and Europe’s longest gorge.

So much of Greece feels as if it is connected to the myths of the Ancient Greeks. You would not be surprised if myths had been set here, there are 52 peaks above 2000 metres in the range, and it can boast the Samaria Gorge, an 18km long gorge.

The picturesque Cretan coast is littered with beautiful shipping villages which huddle among these amazing mountains. The range is known as the White mountains for the snow that covers them in the winter and the white limestone that makes them shine in the summer sun. Towering above the coast the mountains plunge into the sea in sheer cliffs cut by deep ravines as they reach the coast.

We recommend starting the trek at the beautiful port of Channia, built by the Venetians. From here you can make your way through the mountains to Elafonissi where the pink sands make a stark contrast with the beautiful turquoise waters.

Weaving through more beautiful towns, and amazing mountain paths the trek eventually reaches the white-washed villas of the village of Loutro.
