Sail a traditional Tall-ship in the South Pacific.
Tall-ships like the Soren Larsen have been cruising the South Pacific for centuries and joining the crew of one of these ships is the perfect way to explore this paradise of deserted islands, blue seas and coral reefs, all with some real old-fashioned adventure thrown in.
Stepping aboard the Soren Larsen feels like stepping into the world of Nelson and so many of the sea-faring heroes. In many ways you really are, for your time on the ship you are part of the crew, allocated watches, manning the wheel and even being sent up the rope ladders to furl and unfurl the sails. The great thing about this is that you can do as much as you like, if you suffer from vertigo you won’t be sent up into the rigging, and can do something closer to deck, this isn’t about gruff naval officers breaking in the new recruits, it’s about having a great adventure on the high seas.
And once you’ve mastered your duties you get to enjoy the fruits of your labour, the joy of sailing around this part of the world is the number of tiny specks of land to explore. Mooring the ship off deserted beaches to sunbathe, snorkel on reefs or just fish for the ship’s supper from the side of the ship.
This adventure really is a once in a lifetime experience, sure to having you grinning throughout, even if the sea whips up a force seven gale!
