Join Charley Boorman on an epic journey for 17 days across Southern Africa. Covering almost 5,000 kilometers through some of the world’s most beautiful scenery and riding some of the best tracks there are! You will be riding top of the range BMW R1200 GS motorcycles with Charley as your guide.

The journey begins in Cape Town, through the Cape Peninsula and across the wine lands. This vast area is known as the culinary capital of South Africa. Here you will come across locally produced food and wine, breathtaking scenery and a multitude of vineyards. Next, ride through the dramatic Cederberg Mountain Range known for its unique rock formations and vast wilderness that you will be itching to explore.

Nightfall is spent amongst the locals, getting an insight into daily life and the unique culture. The next few days are spent riding through Namibia. First stop, Fish River Canyon, the largest in Africa and second largest in the world. Fish River Canyon cuts deep into the sparse dry plateau, leading down to the Ai Ais hot springs at its lower end. Indulge in the natural wonder of the hot springs, a perfect spot to relax and take a dip after a long ride.

The next point on the journey travels across the Red Dunes of Namibia, these stunning sand formations are a major attraction located in the southern part of the Namib Desert. Continuing the adventure across the scorching hot Namib Desert, you will ride through Swakopmund to the Skeleton Coast. After riding along the Atlantic, an abundance of wildlife and natural landscapes are waiting for you at the Etosha National Park. Known for the saltpan that can be seen from space, this part of the journey ventures through the stunning park and its phenomenal array of animals found loitering around watering holes and bushes.

Time to soak up some of the tribal culture with the indigenous people of northern Namibia, the Himba. Learn about their way of life and meet women from the tribe, known for their ornate tribal jewelry and exquisite dress. This part of the trip highlights a part of Southern Africa that not many people get to see, and is one of many opportunities throughout the tour to get off your bike and take part in a variety of activities.

As you say goodbye to Namibia and welcome the wonders of Botswana, get ready for an adrenaline filled ride through the Chobe Game Reserve. With one of the largest concentrations of game in Africa, Chobe Game Reserve is home to warthogs, kudu, wildebeests, zebra, as well as its spectacular elephant population. No doubt you will spend some time here touring the reserve and watching the animals in their natural habitat. Next is on to the Orange River, the largest river in southern Africa and an absolute joy to ride.

As it comes towards the end of the trip, closely descending on your final destination with Charley. At the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe, on the Zambezi, is the breathtaking, awe-inspiring Victoria Falls. Explore the incredibly vast vegetation and wildlife that surrounds the falls, not to mention the overwhelming beauty of the site. An Idyllic way to end the journey, you can now enjoy a multitude of adrenalin fueled activities awaiting you at Victoria Falls.
