Escape the path most travelled and trek through the mountains and desert sands.

Morocco is a country of contrasts, the high mountains of the Atlas range and the desert sands of the Sahara, the modern cities of Marrakech and the traditional Berber villages. We think it is these contrasts which make it such a fantastic country, and so it would be a pity to visit without experiencing them.

We recommend starting in the Atlas Mountains just outside Marrakech and heading east, travelling through the Toubkal National Park as well as the stunning sand dunes at Erg Chebbi. The mountains near Marrakech are great for trekking and are easily accessible. The hillsides you will be trekking through are dotted with Berber villages and Kasbahs as well as stunning natural gorges which serve to create striking rifts in the landscape.

The benefit of taking this route is that it will split up the high volume trekking points of Toubkal and Erg Chebbi with treks through the Todra Gorge and Jbel Sarho, both of which are just as beautiful, but woefully under-visited by mainstream treks, meaning they feel unspoiled by the impact of mass tourism. Accommodation on the trek will be in nomadic campsites, this authentic vision into the life of the tribes who have lived in the area for centuries adds an amazing extra layer to the trek. Not just for the obvious reason of the joys of falling asleep outside in amazing landscapes, but also through the ability to gain a great understanding of how life has carried on here.
