Explore Wales in an authentic Narrowboating experience.

At Big Earth we set out to show that you don’t have to travel the world, or spend a fortune to have a great adventure and it something you can do with your family. We think this narrowboating trip in Wales is an adventure which will help prove this.

When it’s going well narrowboating is one of the most enjoyable and relaxing adventures in the world. Chugging along happily through the rolling green countryside of Wales, tiller in one hand, cup of tea in the other and with one eye on the scenery and the other on the boat’s bow 60 feet in front of you. Captain of your own ship, master of all you survey it really is easy to lose yourself in this perfect idyll. Easy that is until you find yourself heading towards the bank or another boat and you have to wrestle control of your vessel back, it is those moment when you realise this is still an adventure.

Canals dating back from the Victorian era when they were the high volume routes of the Industrial Revolution criss-cross the UK but we recommend the most scenic, the Llangollen canal in north Wales. The reasons for this are multiple, the scenery, the tranquillity to name a couple, but ultimately we recommend it for the experience of crossing the stunning feat of engineering that is the Pontcysyllte Aquaduct. Crawling along a canal 126 feet above another river valley is an unusual feeling to say the least, but one which for the views and for an appreciation of our past technological triumphs we can’t recommend highly enough.

Black Prince Holidays can arrange a unique boating trip around the English countryside. Boats can be rented from £650 per week.
