Explore the beautiful scenery of Hawaii by kayak.

There are so many amazingly beautiful coastlines in the world, but few can compare to Kauai’s Na Pali Coast in Hawaii. The coast is an adventure in itself, but exploring the unique geography of the volcanic island by kayak is the perfect coming together of mode of transport and location.

The Na Pali coast is made up of 17 miles of cliffs, caves and beaches which all combine to create a majestic landscape ripe for exploration. In a paradise like this it seems wrong to take anything but the slow route, offering plenty of time for the eye to take in the incredible sights that surround you.

At 17 miles it is, just about, possible to make the entire journey in one long, or should that be very long, day. But the Big Earth recommendation is to split the journey in two, take your time and camp overnight in the shadows of the 3,000-foot cliffs. It provides a magical midpoint for the trip and turns an exhausting one-day trip into a spectacular and laid-back two day adventure.

As far as we concerned there’s only one way to enjoy Hawaii and that’s the laidback way, so grab a lei and let the fun come to you.

Go guided on day one, camp on Kalalau Beach, then paddle on your own to the beach at Milili’i and, finally, the takeout at Polihale Beach. Na Pali Kayak. The one-day tour costs $200.
